Ever since Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium or our ‘Uppal Stadium’ opened in 2004, the home team never won a match. Not only the Indian cricket team, the local IPL team also failed to register a win. As none of the home teams were able to win on this pitch, it got a dubious distinction of being the ‘Shani stadium’.

Uppal Cricket Stadium – Superstitious HCA Performs Pujas/Vaastu Alteration Due to Poor Winning Record for Home Team - Hyderabad India OnlineHyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) officials now believe that only perfect vaastu can ensure success in this stadium. They are trying to appease gods by performing Pujas and even hired vaastu experts to remove the stadium’s doshams! They performed Ganapati homam and Laxmi pujas on the ground to achieve success. They also dug a well deeper than a swimming pool to rectify the dosham.

Our officials should know that a win depends purely on performance. No puja or homam can get us a win. We loose on this pitch because it has bounce and is favorable to fast bowlers. Our Indian cricketers are very uncomfortable playing on pitches like this. They need to understand that this pitch is very good for grooming our players to play on tracks like this. Instead of performing pujas, they need to prepare similar tracks in other stadia.
