The Rashtrapati Nilayam at Bollarum is open for common people to visit from January 1 to 10. This decision comes in support of the various people-friendly initiatives proposed by the president Mrs. Prathibha Devisingh Patil. She visited the house recently to inaugurate the herbal garden in its premises. The garden consists of 116 varieties of medicinal and aromatic plants, from all across the country. The house also consist solar lights, drip irrigation systems and percolation pond, apart from 35 acres of fruit garden. These developments were made as a part of eco-friendly initiatives by Mrs. Patil.
The entry is free and the visiting timings are from 10 am to 5pm, with entry being closed by 4 pm. The entry is through Gate No.2. The visitors are strictly advised not to carry water bottles, eateries, handbags, briefcases, transistors, arms/ammunition, etc. which pose a threat to security.
