Charminar to Have Additional Parking Facility Soon

22 April 2011: The GHMC as part of the Charminar Pedestrianization Project has planned to provide parking space for 705 cars and 305 bikes, in addition to the present 128 cars and 295 bikes. This multi-level complex will be coming it the Motigalli at Pension Payment Office. It was actually planned before in the premises of Treasuries and Accounts Department, but the Hyderabad collector has handed over the complex at Pension Payment office in exchange of piece of land at Lok Ayukta office at Basheer bagh, which is yet to be approved by the standing committee.

A seven stories complex was planned with three-level parking below the ground floor and four-level above the ground floor, with the capacity to accommodate 512 cars and 80 two wheelers.


In addition to the existing parking areas at SYJ complex, Patherghatti mosque, Shahi Julla khana, Nizamia Hospital and Devan Devidhi complex, the GHMC is also planning a multi-level parking, to accommodate 87 cars and 12 bikes, at the old APSRTC depot at Charminar, which is supposed to be shifted completely by October 11. Since the depot is under use at present, GHMC has prepared a parking layout to accommodate 38 cars for time being.

The GHMC is also planning to use the space for temporary parking of 20 cars and 50 bikes at the Chowk Maidan Khan, which is opposite Malwala Palace, for the tourists visiting during evening hours. This space can also be used as an alternative when the Sardar Mahal Road will be dug up for laying granite.The GHMC has also created a space for parking for 86 cars and 50 bikes at Moosa complex in the Chatta bazaar area.
