17 Jun 11: Aadhar card which is recognized as a proof of identity and address, will give access to various services offered by state government. It will have a ‘unique identity number – Aadhar’, which will be provided by the Unique Identification Authority of India to all the citizens who have enrolled for this card.
Under the phase I, the authority has taken up the program in the districts of Hyderabad, Adilabad, Rangareddy, East Godavari, chittoor, Srikakulam and Anantapur.
The state government has announced that, in all the above areas, as of June 15, a total of at least 1.50 crore residents have enrolled under Aadhar. The state government has also advised all the line departments to incorporate Aadhar in their business processes, so as to further increase the services offered to the eligible citizens.
