21 Jun 11: The 111 year old palace, Sardar Mahal, which was built by sixth Nizam of Hyderabad, at Charminar, is left unoccupied for many years. But now, GHMC is planning to set up a museum in it. Under the Charminar Pedestrianization Project, the repair works of this grade II heritage structure has been taken up, to retain its lost glory. For this, the Tourism Ministry has sanctioned Rs.88 lakh to GHMC.
A Tourist Interpretation Center has been proposed to be set up in the structure, which will give information regarding the city, through maps, pictures, artifacts and memorabilia.
GHMC is planning to collect the different artistic objects from various sources, including the private collections of Hyderabadies.
