19 Jun 11: Consortium of the Associations of Private Un-aided Professional Colleges has gained permission from Admissions and Fee Regulatory Committee to conduct its own Eamcet and Icet exams for admissions in to engineering, pharmacy, MBA and MCA courses.

There are five engineering colleges, 10 MBA/MCA colleges and two pharmacy colleges in the consortium. These colleges account for about 1,500 engineering seats, 1,500 MBA/MCA seats and 180 pharmacy seats. Both the exams will be held on July 3, with Eamcet being held from 10 am to 1 pm and Icet from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm.

The consortium last held its own entrance in 2009, but in the last year it has opted for the government conducted exams and counseling for admissions. Most of the professional colleges did not choose to join the consortium, instead went with the government conducted exams. Out of the 707 engineering, 300 pharma, 900 MBA and 900 MCA colleges present in the state only 17 colleges opted for their own entrances by following a consortium.
