4 Aug 11: According to the reports from Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), three Qutub Shahi monuments in the city, Golconda, Charminar and seven Tombs from the city will be considered by UNESCO for the world heritage tag only in the year 2013. For this, the UNESCO’s team will visit Hyderabad in September 2012.
Previously the state tourism and archaeological department officials have stated that the city was nominated for the tag this year and the UNESCO’s team is slated to visit city this October. But the ASI has dismissed the above statement by state officials and said that the city is in 2013 list. The state officials have submitted the required dossier in February and some additional information later, which will take one and half year to be processed by the team. After the inspection in next year, the final announcement will be made by when the UNESCO committee meets in June-July, 2013.
