08 Aug 11: The recently inaugurated 2.7 billion dollar terminal 3 in Delhi Indira Gandhi International airport was in total darkness due to the five hour electricity blackout on August 7th. This has affected the operations of many international and domestic flights. It is also reported that the X-ray machines, check-in desks and the baggage handling systems all were unable to operate. Almost all the access to the terminals were closed and the passengers on board of their planes were guided to the terminals using car headlights.
The airport being a high risk zone, the situation turned out to be chaotic. A panel has also been set up to investigate on this situation.
