Agni V, the new generation intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) put India, in the exclusive club of nations having such missile technical knowhow. It is the country’s first 5,000km plus range missile.
Significantly, Agni V has made Hyderabad proud of itself. Most components of the missile got their birth, shape and manufacture in different industrial units including Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and other companies located at different corners in Hyderabad. The Advanced Systems Laboratory, DRDO, Defence Electronics Research Laboratory and The Research Centre Imarat- these four organizations played a pivotal role in making Agni V, taking India to such an enviable position. For this, it took more than five years of dexterity and diligence of scientists and engineers of quite sizable a number.
An important member of the think tank of the Project is a doctorate from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India.
All these facts go to make Hyderabad, one of the most cosmopolitan cities of India, proud. Bravo Hyderabad!
