The UGC has assigned Osmania University (OU) to conduct the first Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test (APSET) in 24 subjects after a gap of 13 years. As per the new UGC rules, passing NET or SET is mandatory for appointment of teaching faculty at universities and degree colleges. The last year it was conducted was 1998 under the name SLET.
OU has reportedly received more than one lakh applications until now showing a very good response from students.
The test will be held in the subjects: anthropology, commerce, economics, English, life sciences, management, history, mathematics, physical education, political science, public administration, Telugu, chemical sciences, computer science, earth sciences, linguistics, law, education, Hindi, physical sciences, philosophy, psychology, sociology and Urdu.
APSET is advantageous for students having Telugu medium compared NET held by the UGC because the latter is held in English and Hindi.
