According to GHMC officials, there is need for multi-level parking complexes in certain localities in the city and that steps are being taken in this regard.
Open spaces within government building A.P. Housing Board offices at Nampally and Kukatpally, those in the office Hyderabad metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) at Ameerpet and Saroornagar are to be utilized for the purpose. A parking facility near Charminar would also come up soon.
It was suggested that an Urban Transport Fund should be created by levying 10 percent Road Tax, by reinvesting the revenue obtained from penalties by the traffic police and by diverting 0.25 per cent of development charges collected from urban local bodies.
