Work on Three More Piers in Metro Rail Starts

As shuttering arrangement for the first pillar of (pier) Hyderabad Metro Rail goes on Nagole -Mettuguda section, three more piers are going to be started between Nagole and Uppal. Along with this, construction of train maintenance, repair workshops, and stabling yards are to start at Uppal Depot.

To cover time lags in the project, hectic efforts were made complete the maximum possible work before the onset of the Monsoon.

To facilitate work, 60 acres of leased land adjacent to the Uppal depot has been made ready for beginning casting of the segments. Each segment having dimensions 30 feet by 10 feet and weighs 35 tons approximately would be required for the erection of metro rail viaduct for all three corridors of 71.16 km.

About 10 segments are going to be fixed normally between two piers separated by a distance of about 31 metres. In all 28,000 segments would be used for the project.
