In the recent drive against unrecognized schools carried out in the city by the district educational officials, 520 schools were found illegal in the GHMC limits. Of them six schools in Nampally and Azamgarh areas were forced to close and more than 13 institutions were sent the closure notices. A public notice is also issued for the parents advising them to shift their children to recognized schools of their choice.

Till now the raids were carried out raids in the areas of Nampally, Santhoshnagar, Kothapet, Madannapet, Azamgarh, and Saidabad. And nearly 50 institutions were served notices for closure by the authorities.

In these raids, it was found that most of the unrecognized schools were run by the big players in educational sector, but they lack permission from Department of Primary Education. Moreover, most of the schools were also found to lack building and fire safety permissions from GHMC, which is also a crucial factor in issuing the ‘recognised status’ for schools.

Most of the parents were shocked to find their children’s schools to be unrecognized, as they have paid a hefty sum of nearly Rs.16,000 to Rs.20,000 towards the school fees.
