Osmania University has seen a drop in pass percentage in degree results for the third consecutive year. This year the drop in pass percentage in annual degree examinations was 7%, recording a pass percentage of 42.87 (last year it was 49.22). Out of 62,103 students appeared for the exams, only 26,626 have cleared all the subjects. Sadly, in the last five years the university has registered a 15% drop in degree pass percentage. It was 55.86 in 2010 and 57.81 in 2008.
This falling trend in degree results can be attributed to the falling education standards in the colleges and also the recent agitations in the campus. Though the results are related to the affiliated colleges of the University, it is the University’s responsibility to check for the infrastructure, teaching standards and monitor the academic performances.
