Along with the other documents which are regarded as the valid proofs to issue passports, Aadhaar card and residential certificate issued by the tehsildhars are now accepted as valid proof of applicants’ credential.
After considering the cases of applicants submitting fake voter Ids and ration cards, the Regional Passport Office (RPO), Hyderabad, has sent a proposal to the ministry of external affairs asking them to approve Aadhaar and residential certificates as valid proofs to issue passports. The proposal has been approved and an official from the RPO has announced the same to the press. He also said that they have sent notices to all the people whose voter ID and ration card were found fake.
