The fifth edition of the Indian City Competitiveness Report – 2012, listed Delhi as the most competitive city in the country for the third consecutive time followed by Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.
This report being compiled by the Institute for Competitiveness (IFC), which conducts studies in these areas for use by businesses and governments. It also reported that Faridabad, showing good growth in its infrastructure, improved its ranking and now is at the 29th place in the list. Similarly, Guwahati, also showed a wide improvement.
Industry experts considered this trend as a positive note. As the cities are drivers of economy, the growth of the cities will enhance the growth of the states and eventually contributes to the country’s growth. They also felt that Indian cities do have that required potential to make their mark across the globe.
