Physical Education Made Compulsory in High Schools

In response to the continuous demands from the parents, the School Education Department has now made physical education compulsory in high schools.

They also revised the timetables of six to ten classes by giving priority to physical activities and sports in the education. The new timetable will come into effect from this academic year.

According to the sources, the timetable has been designed keeping in view the holistic development of students. It also helps students to foster their physical as well as emotional health.

The sources also mentioned that this change is being brought to achieve universalisation of sports opportunities on scientific lines for every children.

One more noted change is that environmental studies has been deleted for 6 to 10 classes and is included in General science.
