Similar to engineering, MBA, and MCA seats, the state government is planning to fix common fee for MBBS and BDS convenor and management quota seats from the next academic year.
According to the sources, the fee for MBBS courses is likely to cross Rs 6 lakh per annum for the merit/convenor/category A seats from the existing fee of just Rs 60,000. As the state government recently released cap on the reimbursement scheme, for MBBS seats it is planning to reimburse only Rs 60,000, leaving the rest of the fee burden of 5.4 lakh on students.
College managements are till arguing to make the fee of 8 lakh common for both the merit and management quotas as they are claiming that they were incurring nearly 8 lakh per year on MBBS students.
