According to the traffic police personnel’s estimation, nearly 40% of women have violated traffic rules. But many a times they don’t get booked because the traffic police lack of women constables and sub-inspectors. While most of the young women have been caught for over speeding.
Approximately, 6% of women have been registered under traffic violations and only 12 women drivers have been caught during the special drive against drivers. The traffic police department does not have a women SI and has only four women constables and five women home guards.
The Additional commissioner of traffic police stated that there is a need for women traffic police officers and women constables, as it is becoming difficult to handle special drive against women drunken drivers.
