Nearly, 20,000 autos in Hyderabad and Secunderabad are operating without getting their digital fare meters changed according to the revised tariff of minimum fare of Rs 16. As these autos haven’t changed their digital fare, it is creating a confusion among passengers and they are forced to pay more than the actual cost for the distance that they travel.
A special drive has been taken up against errant drivers and about 150 autos have been seized. If auto drivers fail to change the revised digital fare meter and go against rules, stern action will be taken against them, as per sources.
