Public transport users in city can travel in MMTS, bus and metro, with just carrying one single smart card. This system is being introduced, keeping the convenience of commuters in mind and also to make the Hyderabad Metro Rail a world-class metro rail.
This initiative has been taken up by the L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Ltd to introduce the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system. The method of ticketing will be incorporated with MMTS trains and APSRTC city buses.
Commuters can pay at the ticket chargers through credit or debit cards at the contactless smart card ticket system. Metro stations will have ticket vending machines, where commuters can enter stations by flashing the smart card that enables the gates to open automatically. This project is estimated to cost around Rs220 crore.
