The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) has issued a new tariff schedule for the year 2013-14, which will come into effect from 1 April 2013. The hike in the power tariff has affected multiple categories like domestic, commercial, industrial and others. Initially only two categories were spared from the hike – People in the BPL (below poverty line) and the privileged agriculture sector.

However, due to the continuous protests and agitations from people and political parties across the state, the government has reconsidered its decision. It rolled back the power tariff hike for the consumers who use only 200 units per month. That is there is no change is tariff up to 200 units.
