Textile traders in AP were on a state-wide indefinite strike since March 9 to protest against government’s decision to levy VAT (Value Added Tax) on textiles.
Traders called off the strike on March 28 after they got assurance from the government to look into the matter and to withdraw VAT on textiles.
Textile shops remained closed for about 20 days. The agitation against VAT has caused crores of loss to many businesses in the city alone.
