60% of population in Andhra Pradesn practices open defecation and about 90% of population do not have access to the toilets.
284 public toilets exists in the city from which 20 were constructed last year, says the officials of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. Among these toilets, many are in a bad condition, says an activist.
Open defecation is creating health issues in many people. Moreover, experts says that open defecation is unacceptable as it pose a health risk to everyone and also becomes difficult to walk on some places due to this practice which is unhealthy.
Private sector, civil society organization, youth organizations, government, decision makers and UN agencies should work together to solve this issue.
