The HMWS&SB (Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board) has warned managements of MSBs (Multi Storied Buildings) to enhance water connection to three fourth inch from half inch within a month, otherwise they have to pay the penalty as per the HMWSS&B Act, 1989.
80 percent of builders or owners of MSBs continue to draw water from old half inch water connections despite they had converted their residential properties to MSBs or apartments. There are over 6,000 apartments in Red Hills (Division-IV), Narayanguda (divisions-V) and S R Nagar (divisions-VI). The Water Board has decided to make it mandatory for the MSBs to upgrade the connections to three fourth inch.
It is important to note that, in 1989 HMWS&SB was formed and the MSBs owners were asked to enhance existing connections, but only a few of them complied.
