Auto rickshaw strike was called off after transport authorities agreed to send a formal report to government on revising the minimum auto fares. The revised fares are coming into force in the first week of February 2014. The details are as follows:
- The minimum auto fare has been hiked to Rs. 20 from Rs. 16.
- Tariff per kilometer has been hiked to Rs. 11 from Rs. 9.
- For every 15 minutes, the waiting charge is Rs. 5, whereas earlier, for every 2 minutes the waiting charge is 50 paise.
Besides demanding a revision of minimum auto fares, the auto union demanded repeal of GO 108 – to reduce the minimum penalty from Rs.1,000 to Rs.100 or Rs.200 under GO 108.
