The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) is going to stop collecting user development fee (UDF) from April 1, 2014 until March 31, 2016. The UDF is charged by GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL).

Currently, domestic passengers at Hyderabad airport are charged Rs 430 plus taxes per passenger (Rs 484 including all taxes). For international passengers it is Rs 1,700 (Rs 1,910 including all taxes). Only infants aging below two years are exempted from UDF charges.

The AERA has decided to merge the facilitation part of passenger service fee (PSF) with UDF. For GHIAL, it has made UDF as zero from April 1, 2014, until March 31, 2016 and is applicable to domestic and international passengers.

It is also clarified that no charge (as against Rs 5 currently) per passenger will be collected because UDF will not be collected. This norm will come into force from April 1, 2014.
