BSNL has decided to discontinue the 160 year old telegram service from July 15. This service was introduced in India by British in the year 1850. Later, it was taken over by BSNL.

Telegram was fondly called as ‘taar’. It used to carry both good news as well as bad news, there was mixed emotions that a ‘taar’ would carry, like the death of a person, birth of a child or marriage invitation to your near and dear ones.

This telegram service is one of the oldest communication services and the closure of this service is said to be that Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) is facing annual loss of Rs 300-400 crores.

With the advent of the Internet and mobile phone, people have stopped using telegram. So, send a telegram to your dear ones, before July 15, because after that, it will become a history to remember.
