17 Jun 11: Secunderabad’s five decade old, prestigious cinema theater, Sangeet 70mm is about to get a makeover as ‘Sangeet Cine Leisure’. This will be the Secunderabad’s first mall cum multiplex. The old complex was demolished in 2008 and the construction work was started in the same year. But the project was held up due to various issues such as recession in 2008 and 2009, and incessant monsoon in 2010.
The new mall-multiplex structure will retain the same old trademark look of Sangeet theater as the city’s residents are too familiar with it. But a modern touch will be added to the old look, to give it a new avatar. The new complex will have four screens, gaming zones, retail stores, food courts and a three tier underground parking.
Especially constructed to cater to the needs of modern lifestyle of Secunderabad residents, the complex will not be extremely high-end, but will certainly sync with the classy image which was associated with the age old theater. The residents are already excited about their first mall-cum-multiplex. The works are expected to be completed by March 2012.
