For those who have encountered hassles for obtaining passport, the Regional Passport Office has made it easy by allowing people to fill application at an e-seva centre at their convenience from 1 August, 2012.
Obtaining a print out of the application reference number, applicants can walk into the passport seva Kendra (PSK) from 0900 hours to 1100 hours to submit forms. Significantly, the service is permissible to certain categories including Tatkal services (fresh/reissue cases), senior citizens above 60 years, minors below 15 years whose parents hold valid passports, physically challenged persons and Central and State government employees along with their spouses and dependent minor children who have no-objection or identity certificates. These people can apply at any e-seva centre by paying Rs 100.
Also, applicants requesting for deletion of ECR status in passports keeping other details unchanged and those with valid passports requiring new booklets in case of exhaustion of visa pages are eligible to apply via e-seva. Applicants requiring police verification can also apply by paying Rs 50.
The new norm is aimed at reducing pressure on online appointments and to simplify submission of applications at PSKs across the State.
Reissue of passport and passports to minors do not require police verification and hence these are cleared within five days.
