Popular social networking website Facebook has recently announced that it will set up its support office in the city of Hyderabad. The facebook is said to choose Hyderabad as part of a strategy of having support centres around the world in different time zones. It helps the company in providing round the clock support the growing number of users, advertisers and developers in India as well as all over the world.
Facebook has more than 40 crore active users all over the world. Due to the increasing Internet usage particularly in urban India, Facebook has achieved exponential growth in recent months and has more than 80 lakh active users in India. Facebook is one of the major competitors to the other social networking sites such as Orkut, Flickr and MySpace.
One of the officials stated that the centre at Hyderabad would house online advertising and developer support teams to provide round-the-clock, multi-lingual support to its users and advertisers across the world. Hyderabad will be the fourth support centre of the company. In addition to the new center at Hyderabad, its operations are carried out of California; Dublin, Ireland and Austin, Texas.
It is said that Facebook will recruit a small talented team initially from Hyderabad and hopes to increase further as the company expands.
