Automatic Monitoring Stations in City to keep a Check on Noise Pollution

25 March 2011: The AP Pollution Control Board (APPCB) has installed solar panel powered noise monitoring equipment, with a budget of Rs.8 lakh to Rs.9 lakh, at five different stations in the city to assess the rising levels of noise pollution. The five stations are selected so as to cover various zones, commercial, residential and Industrial. The stations are situated at Panjagutta, Jubilee Hills, Abids, Jeedimetla and Nehru Zoological Park. The equipment also has power and battery backup. It is automatic and does not need presence of personnel. It works round the clock and updates the records at every five minutes.
