20 April 2011: RBI is issuing new Rs.5 coins with two new themes – ‘150th Birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore’ and ‘1000 years of Brihadeeswarar temple’. The new coins will have new faces. For the first theme the faces of coins will bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar and the portrait of Rabindranath Tagore. The second theme will have King Raja Rajan-I of Chola Dynasty on its reverse side.
