01 April 2011: Interestingly, this time for EAMCET, students applying for medical stream this year were higher than the engineering stream. The total number of applications received for engineering stream was 2.51 lakhs when compared to 3.2 lakhs last year and for medical stream it received 56,331 when compared to 54,858 last year. Though the candidates can still submit application till April 25, not more than 1000 applications are expected to be received. If this situation is considered then it is estimated that about 25,000 seats will be left vacant in engineering even if all the students who applied are qualified.
