5 Sep 11: Prepaid autos in the city are expected to come by this September end. It has been three months since the government has ordered for setting up of prepaid auto stands at the Secunderabad Railway Station. This measure was taken up to avoid auto drivers from charging unreasonable fares on the passengers from within the state and outside places.
There are around 2,000 autos which ply in the areas of Afzalgunj and Bhoiguda areas in the city. As there is no stipulated fare chart that is put up in the autos, the auto drivers tend to take demand for much high fare and also refuse to demand by meter. Since, the city is the state capital and also a well popular tourist spot, this measure would be helpful in curbing the auto drivers’ menace. The traffic personnel will monitor this prepaid auto rickshaw stand in the station.
