The incidence of cancer among the young people in the 18-39 age-group is on the rise. The reason is because of changing lifestyle of such people.
Hospitals across the city stated the number of visitors for oral, gastro-intestinal, cervical cancer had increased. Among the daily visitors to hospitals to treat cancer, about 30% belong to the age group 18-39- greater a proportion than in any other city in India.
Among the cancer affected, men are mostly affected by oral and stomach cancer while women by breast cancer.
As per a leading physician at a government hospital, absence of sufficient exercise is one of the main reasons for incidence early cancer. Parents should guide young people in this regard to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
