The city which is suffering from the regular power cuts since this summer has to bear them for two more months. The Central Power Distribution Company Limited (CPDCL) has released an official press release making it clear that the power cuts in the city will continue till September. They mentioned that insufficient water levels in the reservoirs and shortage of coal and gas in power generating plants in the state are the main reasons for the insufficient power supply.
They have given out the power cut schedule for different sectors and areas, which is as follows:
For Domestic (household) sector in GHMC limits | 3 hours a day – in two spells – one and half hour each |
For district head quarters | 5 hours daily |
For towns, municipalities and mandal headquarters | 6 hours a day |
For industrial sector | 3-day power holiday per week or a 12-day power holiday in a month |
For industrial units which are being supplied 11 KV voltage | 2-day power holiday |
For industries having 11 KV power supply on mixed feeders |

For industrial units which are being supplied with less than 11 KV voltage | 2-day power holiday (as per the new press release) |
According to the sources, all government and corporate hospitals, Singareni Collieries, drinking water supply, national and regional newspaper printing units, railway tractions, educational institutes, high tension commercial services such as malls, central and state public sector undertakings have been exempted from the scheduled load reliefs.
