The excise department has changed the pricing of liquor by rounding it off to the higher five rupees. For example, a 200 ml bottle of liquor, earlier would cost Rs 106 , but now it will cost more, with rounding it off to higher five rupee slot, that is Rs 110. The principal secretary of revenue department has issued the orders to wine dealers.

The retail outlets of the Andhra Pradesh Beverages Corporation Limited have already started implementing the new pricing norms. It will bring forth additional revenue worth Rs 1,000 crore per annum to the state government.

According to wine dealers, last month there was a hike, because of the new excise policy. The additional financial burden will fall on consumers, not on wine dealers. They opine that liquor will cost higher around Rs 250 per case, which the consumers will have to bear.
