The fee reduction in engineering courses came as a surprise to many aspiring engineering students. In 195 engineering colleges across the state the fee has been reduced to Rs 30,000 yearly from Rs 35,000.
In 258 engineering colleges the fee was fixed for Rs 35,000 and in 176 colleges the fee was over Rs 35,000. The fee in 434 engineering colleges is between Rs 35,000 to Rs 1.13 lakh yearly. Two engineering colleges in state secured fee of over Rs 1 lakh per year: CBIT – Gandipet – Rs 1,13,300 and Vasavi – Ibrahim Bagh, near Gandipet – Rs 1,09,300. The fee in nearly 19 colleges is not yet fixed, as they may be barred from giving admissions.
The newly revised fee structure will start from the academic year 2013-14 and will be applied for a block period of three years. This will be the common fee for both management quota (30%) and merit quota (70%) seats.
