The City Police decided to completely lift curfew which was imposed 12 days ago in the riot-hit areas of Old City. This decision provides a major relief to the inhabitants of Hyderabad.
The Police also insisted to have achieved progress into the investigation of three murders executed at the time of communal riots by arresting three youngsters. The prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC restricting group of five or more persons to stage movement, dharna, rally or public meetings will be in implementation from 0600 hrs on April 11 to 0600 hrs on April 17.
Three persons were murdered and nearly 90 others were injured after clashes which commenced between members of two communities over erection of religious flags on March 27. This made Police to impose strict curfew in 25 police stations from March 29.
Curfew was initially relaxed for two hours from April 1 and later was much relaxed as the situation improved. With the total circumstances in the riot-hit areas becoming peaceful at the time of the relaxation of curfew period in the earlier few days, the City Police decided to totally lift curfew.
